Exhibition Case Redesign
George Mason University College of Science

The Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Earth Sciences was looking to completely redesign five exhibit cases in the main hallway. The goal of the project was to fit a majority of the vast replica collection and increase paleontological course enrollment.

One of the challenges was creating flow between the themes; ensuring the sections were distinct yet unified as a group.

Sediment to Sky
Potomac Science Center, VA

I was commissioned two murals that portray interactions of the native flora and fauna studied at the facility. Covering nearly 250 sq. ft of the risers and side wall of the front lobby staircase, the the murals focuse on each layer of the Potomac River Watershed from sediment to sky. Climbing up the staircase evokes the sense of ascending from the riverbed while having close encounters with locally found species of fish, birds and mammals.

Víðsýni
Listasafn a Akureyri, Iceland

On a research grant from the GMU Office of Student Scholarship, I spent two months in Northern Iceland  painting a series on Icelandic reforestation and its influence on landscape identity. The paintings were shown in my first solo exhibition abroad and in a more elaborate version later that year at the GMU School of Art. I also received the opportunity to present at the 2023 NCUR Conference in Eau Claire, WI and as an Excellence Award winner at the 2023 OSCAR Celebration of Student Scholarship.
